Deja Vu

I’m having a momentary lapse in my short term memory here.  I could have sworn I blogged about my dressers before but I can’t for the life of me find them in any of my old posts.  I raised both hands over my head and smiled just be sure I hadn’t had a stroke lol.
So if by some strange chance you have seen this before in an alternate universe you have my apology for being redundant.
After finding the perfect bed I searched high and low for dressers and nightstands to match.  I knew what I was looking for and I knew the price I was willing to pay.  It took a while.  Like one of those dreams where you see the door at the end of the hallway and the hallway keeps stretching, becoming longer and longer.   Well instead of a door I saw my dressers lol.
Until  a man posted an entire set of two dressers and two nightstands on Craigs List for…. $20.  Yes can you believe that?  That weren’t top quality, they aren’t antique and they came to me in urine yellow with gold trim!  But they were functional and the right style and for $20 I knew they would serve their purpose for quite some time!  Sadly… I cannot find any before pictures.  I know before and after's don’t really hold the same impact without the before.  Just imagine a dog pee’d all over your furniture!  Oh scratch that!  Just found one lol.  The nightstand was mid process in the picture below. Oh sigh, I try.

Well it doesn’t exactly look as yellow as it really was.  But I promise you they were.

The dresser and nightstands are beautiful, I especially love the contrast between the dark top and white body on the dresser. Wish I could score a find like that. Craigslist hasn't done much for me yet.

OK, I'm imagining the "before" color, not so pretty! You did a fabulous job on these pieces. I really like the black top on the white dresser, gives it a very expensive look. What makes these projects even better is the great deal you got. Thanks for sharing, good work.

You did a fantastic job on this. I adore the dresser with the black top! I have looked for bedroom furniture and nothing these days will fit my small bedroom. The old set that I have is like 35 years old. I have to old formica dark brown tops. I have no idea how to make changes to them. I need some suggestions!

Great job! I think my set is almost identical to yours, but I paid $75 for dresser, mirror, hutch, and desk...I think your score beats mine!

I've only redone the mirror so far because I've had a hard time with the drawer pulls. Did you remove yours? I'd love any tips you have if ours are the same!

Here's a link to my set

Wow; what a transformation, Sommer. I can vouch for you that that style furniture is typically quite yellow. Your white and black combo looks sooo stylish on it now. And for twenty bucks - wow, again!!!

Thanks for linking to my party. I love seeing your projects.

What type of paint did you use? I have similar funiture that I would like to paint like yours, but I don't want the paint to chip off. Part of my dresser set is laminate. Thanks.
