Paint Stick Crate

I saw this incredible crate this week made by Today's Fabulous Finds.  I had to make one for myself like yesterday.  So that's exactly what I did.  Yesterday.  I made one.  LOL.

This one is from Janet @ Today's Fabulous Finds and you can find the entire tutorial over at her blog!

Here is mine!  My handles are a bit thinner and not as "rope" looking but I don't mind and it's what I had on hand.

I used the same dark walnut stain as Janet did.  I wanted it old and grungy looking.  I didn't sand it or anything.  Just slopped it on.  My favorite technique.

I saw a little crate in a catalog somewhere sitting on a coffee table with candles in it and I knew this one would be perfect for the same idea.

I grabbed a bag of polished river rocks and filled it in.  I love all the natural elements.

I really LOVE it!  Thanks Janet!

This is great. I've seen several variations of this in blogland and I keep thinking I'm going to make one but haven't done it quite yet. Thanks for sharing--I love seeing everyone's version.
