Rustic to Cottage

This weeks VIP party still going on here.

I spent a lot of time in my paint booth the past few days trying to get a bunch of pieces done.  Tammy over at Type A Decorating and myself plan to have a big shabby sale this summer.

As you can see my nifty little technique of painting drawers.  Trash bags.  How do you keep your paint away from the body of the drawers?  I love new ideas.

While I was looking for something to exhaust the rest of my paint on I realized I had this darling end table that had been sitting the basement for over a year. It was just an unfinished rustic pine.  I had planned to sell it as is but it dawned on me that I could use this table and finish it for my house until the sale.

So… my apologies I don’t have a before photo.  Sometimes I get so excited I just go to town and think about blogging afterwards lol.

I just gave it the usual the white linen treatment and roughed up the edges and darkened them with some dark walnut stain.

I also bought some furniture wax.  First time user here.  I wanted to start out with something affordable so I got the Minwax clear furniture paste.  I’ll be honest.  It does the trick but I don’t love it.  It’s very hard and you have to rub, a lot.  Like I’m glad I didn’t work out yesterday a lot.

But it left the table feeling nice and will do the trick until I order some Hannants wax.  I can’t wait to have some soft pliable wax and that cool round brush!

I love the finish on this table! It's even better that it came out of your own basement.

I love white distress things, so I love that table. Can't help you with the drawers because I use a trash bag under everything I paint.

I love it! I'm not normally a shabby chic person, but one could make me change my mind.
