Powder Bath Revealed

First off... Don't forget, the VIP party is going on until Sunday night!

Wow what a journey this bathroom has been!  I'm so happy it's finished but in the same breath it was a totally fun project with lots of new things learned.  And aside from sand on the floors and the fact that it's a bathroom I love it so much I could live in there!

Here is a reminder of what I had to work with originally...
Yep, old ugly wall paper border, plain old walls, builders mirror... Pretty much a blank boring slate.

And here it is three weeks and a broken toe later!

I just got this beautiful hourglass with the perfect robins egg blue sand today at TJ Maxx!

The towel rack is from Hobby Lobby.  Man I love that store. And part of the framed mirror.

These little birds my 6 yr old daughter found for me at the dollar store.  Does she know my taste or what?

I love this shoe form and had it on the books until the birds gave it the boot.  Quite literally.

I already had these hurricane glasses.  Once I started getting the feel for this room and where it was going I pondered over and over on how to fill these.  This is where good friends come in handy!  My bff suggested the shells and we found the blue glass pieces at the same time.
I actually wasn't sure I liked this tiled ledge behind the sink and toilet when I moved in but now that the mirror is framed and I can see all my decor staring back at itself, it's way awesome!

Here is another little birdie I put in a cloche.  Aww he's so cute there.

Another great garage sale find was the cloche pedestal and this cute vintage soap sign.  I love how the rusted edges play off the blue wall.  Have I mention I'm totally stoked that it's garage sale season again?!!

These frames have had many homes around this place but nothing felt quite right until now.  Perfect fit!

I had other plan for some cute antique bathroom prints for this wall until I found this to replace my towell bar!  How cool is it?  I also plan to put a cute window covering on that window and toss the icky aluminum blinds.

Here is a close up of my handy work =)  I put in all the panelling which I might add is a huge pain in the butt to work with.  It will be a while before I attempt it again . Mr Garden helped me level my trim for the top and I did all the painting and cuts for all the pieces.

What have I learned from this project?

Do not work in the garage with flip flops or you may break a toe.

Always put the guard on your miter saw or you may bleed.

Make sure you have the right glue when fastening trim to a mirror or you may be up against something like this.  Yes those are shower curtain rods.  Don't ask me how I have so many extras floating around lol.  But they make a great tension rod when Mr Garden doesn't want to help you hold the frame together all night long waiting for the glue to set!
Hey, I'm a crafter, It's in my genes to get creative and even Mr Garden noted that it quite ingenious!

And lastly of every one of the above things... I've learned this was totally worth every drop of blood, sweat and tears and I just love my new bathroom!

Your bathroom looks great, what a great transformation; injuries aside! :) I love all your accessories!

I am always wearing flip flops in the summer! It drives my husband crazy; he always says I am going to get hurt when I wear them. :)

Take care! Jodi

Great job! I too work in flip flops and figure it's just a matter of time before I get hurt too! It was worth all of the blood sweat and tears though, you can swell up with pride every time you go in there!

LOVE it! The part about using curtain rods to brace the mirror is GENIUS!

Can I ask what color paint you used? I am redoing my daughter's room this spring, and she wants a light blue color. I really like this one!

Thanks so much!

It came out beautiful! We live with a very out dated bathroom ourselves and adding the beadboard detail is on my wish list of things to add when we can afford to redo it. I'm inspired to know you did it yourself (even if it was a struggle!)

Visiting today from Time Travel Thursday.
