The green beast

Yes she has arrived.  Finally!  And what an adventure!  I have been waiting for this little big lady for over a week now.  I found this beauty on craigs list crack list (thanks Angie for that fitting little name!) about a week ago.  I got a wild hair to send an email asking if they would donate it to me if it didn't sell and the answer was yes!  Then I got the dreaded email, it was spoken for.  Can I just tell you that a grown woman is fully capable of throwing a child like tantrum!  Once I was finished having my pity party I started searching again.  The very next day I got another email saying it was again available and just to come take her away.  Oh happy day!

It would seem I wasn't supposed to have her as my own because it was one obstacle after another.  First I emailed back for an address and didn't hear a thing for over 24 hours.  Can you say neglect the children and don't take your eyes off the email!  I wanted that address and I wanted it NOW.  So all was set into motion to pick her up today until my helper had to cancel for family reasons.  So at this point it was now or never.  I went alone, with my two girls in tow, ages 3 and 5.

Once we arrived it was a dreadful scene.  We were measuring and plotting about how to get her in my expedition and it started to seem hopeless.  Then I made a rash decision that I'm really glad I didn't regret.  I moved my oldest daughter to the front seat and put the younger one on the floor in the back between the seats.  Bad mommy award for sure but I tell you it's like an addiction and all turned out well.

I got her home and unloaded the beast by myself!  Don't ask me how, I was driven by some sort of super human powers from beyond to get her unloaded and upright so I could analyze her.

Okay enough babbling here is my green beast!!  Drum roll please...

In all her glory

Had a couple oopsies during the move.  I saved the piece of the diamond but the other piece on the artsy farsty was gone before I got there so I'm trying to find a solution for that.

And here you can see on the left side there is a gap in the filler piece because it was left out in the elements in the rain.  I already took the door off and hammered it back into place with my trusty rubber mallet so now the door will close.

Lastly you can see the top is peeling up so I will probably have to replace the top.

I will just sum up this story to say this poor lady was full of wasps which neither she or I liked.  Had to get those buggers out before I took her away in the car.  That could have been bad.  And then while fixing the door after we got home a moth came flying out at me like a bat outta hell.  I think this is the perfect time to let the world know I nearly crapped myself.  I do not like bugs.  I am buggaphobe and spider webs or anything with more legs than my cat don't mesh well with me.  I do that icky buggy dance when I come in contact with them.

Oh my gosh I can't stop laughing!! Sorry you almost crapped yourself! ;)

Ok I have to tell you I was so excited about this piece I almost couldn't sit still to read what you wrote!!!!!! LOVE IT!!! BTW I'd try using gorilla glue or small nails to put that top piece back down first before replacing!!

Almost forgot- Fitting that the piece is green cause I'm thinking you must have turned into the hulk to get that thing out by yourself!?! Also just showed it to Mr. Treasures and he said "That armoire is BADA**!!" Which is straight guy talk for "You scored" ;)

Haha, thanks Angie! I tell you it was simply a moment of crazy love blind madness that got that thing unloaded. If I had to do it again it would probably be in a million pieces. Oh and the top wont lay back down. Even with nails. It's been warped into that shape by rain and the elements. If I tried to tack it down it would probably split right off.
